Paris D-Day and Mont-Saint-Michel tour review
My verdict. At 4.5 from 154 reviews this is the lowest-rated tour on the site, and the reviews tell you why. The Mont-Saint-Michel half consistently delights. The D-Day half is forty-five minutes: a fifteen-minute photo stop at Omaha Beach and half an hour at Pointe du Hoc, with no American Cemetery, no Utah and no Sainte-Mère-Église. Book it if Mont-Saint-Michel matters to you as much as the beaches do. If D-Day is the point of your trip, book from Bayeux instead.
What the day is actually like
- Coach out — about 3.5 hours from Bd Pershing, by the Hyatt Regency Étoile. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, which no other tour here offers.
- Omaha Beach — 15 minutes, a photo stop. Not a visit. You will be back on the coach before the tide has moved.
- Pointe du Hoc — 30 minutes. Enough to walk to the cliff edge and look at the craters, not enough to take them in.
- Coach — about 2 hours across the Cotentin to the bay.
- Mont-Saint-Michel — 2.5 hours, guided, with lunch. The abbey itself is only included if you selected that option when booking; otherwise it is a separate ticket.
- Coach back — about 4 hours.
The arithmetic is the review. About nine and a half of the fifteen hours are spent on a coach; forty-five minutes of the day are spent on D-Day sites. By comparison the Bayeux half-day tour puts two and a half hours on the ground in four hours. That is not an argument against this tour so much as one about what you are booking it for.

Book this if you have one day outside Paris in your whole trip and Mont-Saint-Michel is genuinely on the list beside the beaches, or if you would rather see two things briefly than one thing properly. It is also a fair answer for anyone unwilling to drive in France, which is precisely the reason one reviewer gives for recommending it. Spanish speakers have a specific reason to pick it over the other Paris departures.
Book something else if you came for D-Day. Forty-five minutes will not do what you want it to do, and the Paris day trip to the beaches gives you four and a half hours on the ground including the American Cemetery, for the same kind of day length. Book something else if stairs and steep slopes are a problem, because the Mount is unforgiving. And if you are considering this because you assume the beaches need a full day you do not have, read the best way to visit first.
